Der öffentliche Rundfunkveranstalter SRG SSR idée suisse hat beim Bundesamt für Kommunikation (BAKOM) mehr Geld beantragt, was im Falle der Genehmigung durch den Bundesrat eine Erhöhung der Rundfunkgebühren um acht Prozent ab April 2007 bringen würde.

Otsego provides emergency info

The state of emergency in Otsego County has been extended through 1:45 p.m. Friday, according to Donald Lindberg, county Board of Representatives chairman.

The state of emergency was declared last week after rains led to severe flooding in the region. In Otsego County, many roads, bridges and culverts were damaged, and some roads and sections of roads remain closed.

According to Kevin Flint, the county’s deputy highway commissioner, the following county roads are closed totally or in sections:




Museum's visitors can soon spend a day as a slave

The Museum of Slavery and Civil Rights here plans to offer a new frontier in "experiential tourism" this spring: a day as a slave.

"In order to heal, we must embrace the history of slavery here in America," said Afriye We-kandodis, the museum's director.

Not everyone is so excited. Selma booster George Swift steers visitors to the National Voting Rights Museum, but he's not as enthusiastic about its sister attraction.
